On Thursday, May 5th, Mr. Mark Attorri of Devine and Millimet Attorneys at Law in Manchester came to speak to our juniors and seniors regarding the trial of Galileo. The trial of Galileo is often used as the paradigmatic example of the Church as "anti-science." However, Mr. Attorri unraveled the myth of the biased Church by showing primary documents to our students, discussing the scientific discoveries, and explaining the larger political situation. Mr. Attorri's presentation was informative and exciting for our students.
Mark’s love for teaching comes from his love of the courtroom. Mr. Attorri explains, "To me, the essence of being a good trial lawyer is to be a good teacher. It makes no difference how well an attorney understands the case or how convinced they are of the truth of their client’s position, if they are unable to effectively communicate that understanding to the jurors and educate them to reach the same conclusion themselves." We thank Mr. Attorri for educating our students on the trial of Galileo!
