Holy Family Academy Declared
2014 School of Excellence
by Catholic Education Honor Roll
“Since competition began in 2004, the Honor Roll has been a helpful tool for administrators, families, and benefactors in recognizing the quality of a Catholic high school education,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “The Honor Roll schools are a reminder that Catholic education is getting better every day—not only academically, but in the renewal of Catholic identity—and we are delighted to see the increased level of competition among the schools that participated in the program this year.”
Joseph Williams, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said, “On behalf of the teachers, staff, students, parents and benefactors of Holy Family Academy I extend a heartfelt note of thanks to the Cardinal Newman Society for this great honor. In New England there is no shortage of wonderful academic institutions so it is nice to be recognized as a school that maintains strong and competitive academic standards while still remaining faithful to the school’s mission of teaching the faith to the next generation of scholars. Being named a ‘School of Excellence’ is indeed an honor, but as a Board our greatest reward is the joy we see in our students as they benefit from a teaching and administrative staff that is second to none.”
In gratitude to the Cardinal Newman Society for this recognition, Lucille Fortin, Administrator and Trustee of the Academy, said, “Since the Jubilee Year 2000, Holy Family Academy students have been formed intellectually, morally, and spiritually through a life-changing encounter with Christ. Currently, almost one hundred Holy Family Academy alumni are living in the world as ‘leaven’ and ambassadors for Christ—praise God!”
Dr. Jason Fugikawa, Dean of Academics and Faculty, said, “The Catholic Education Honor Roll offers a spotlight to the many, often unseen efforts of all those in the Holy Family Community, who through the sacrifice of their time, talents, and treasure seek to renew our culture.”
Mark Gillis, Head of School, said, “This is truly fantastic news, and I would like to thank the Cardinal Newman Society for this recognition. The parents and families who send their children to Holy Family Academy make a great many sacrifices to do so. This honor is particularly rewarding for our families and our students whose hard work and sacrifice are now recognized in such a wonderful way.”
