Rhetoric
Course Description
Aristotle defines Rhetoric as the art of persuasion. This course helps students to be persuasive speakers by incorporating the principles of the rhetorical triad: ethos, pathos, logos. This is an active class wherein students deliver roughly one speech per week and develop the habits to be good communicators who are attentive to posture, pace, volume, emphasis, word choice, eye contact, hand gestures, and structure. Students learn how to hook an audience, develop a line of reasoning, and end with an effective closer.
